EBDA kick-off event at Habiba Farm

The Egyptian Biodynamic Association collaborated with Habiba Community and RDNA Store to grow and expand to more farmers regenerating and healing earth with sustainable agriculture at South Sinai by sharing our mission and vision. The team was glad to meet many Bedouin farmers and raise awareness about our activities, services, and the Economy of Love standard.

Med-Links Consumer Behaviour Focus Group

Under the activities of the Med-Links project (Work package 1, Task 1.3). Members of EBDA,

Organic Egypt and Heliopolis University were invited to join Egyptian consumers and participate in a focus group aiming to survey consumers’ attitudes, preferences, and purchasing behavior regarding fruit and vegetables within Egyptian local markets/supply chains. 

Informative Session About Biodynamic Agriculture 

EBDA team visited 32 associations in the governorates of Fayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya to raise awareness of biodynamic agriculture and SEKEM’s vision of sustainable development through the development of farmers and the environment the goal of converting 80% of Egypt’s agricultural area to biodynamic agriculture. Furthermore, the team introduced the Economy of Love standard and its holistic approach and carbon credits and their role in reducing carbon emissions and providing additional financial incentives to farmers’ engagement in environmental protection.

Ali Fahmy Farm Visit

We went to “Ali Fahmy’s Farm” where they use organic compost to cultivate all the farm with the best quality of banana dynamic agriculture. With Eng. Attia, the EBDA agricultural consultant, is one of the important organic banana farms there in Banha region. He gave an intensive session there to raise awareness of the farmers about how to convert from organic agriculture to biodynamic agriculture and he explained about the certifications and how to get certified biodynamic and how to implement its criteria and more about the certificate.

Monthly Training For EBDA Engineers

The EBDA provided the engineers with informative training at SEKEM Group Farm about 2022 Demeter standards, criteria, and systems. The monthly training is a step forward to help the EBDA implement its future vision.

 

ImpacTrace Achievements

The EBDA team included the entire Sekem products on EoL’s ImpacTrace tool. In addition, they created a profile for Sekem Holding on “Producers Trust” which is a platform designed to bridge between producers and supply chain stakeholders with the mission to ensure producers’ well-being and order to drive sustainable transformation. Moreover, two products (Chamomile and Anise) were added to the “story bird” platform, a traceability tool designed by Producers Trust that aims to provide the full story of a product’s life cycle and the different supply chain processes involved in its creation and distribution. Furthermore, Gabriel Morgan, the CTO of Producers Trust paid a visit to EBDA to review the ERPnext tool and the data collection methods, in order to develop optimization solutions to facilitate its use and improve its efficiency.
